Last Friday, we were honoured to been part of the workshop and mingling session organised by Careermums and Mums@Work.

The afternoon event "Flexiwork Mums Mingling Sessions With Employers 2011" was held at the National Library Board.

The first part of the event promoted the idea and awareness of flexible work arrangements on the part of employers to cater to mothers seeking work.

Employers shared with one another what their concerns were pertaining to hiring staff on flexible work arrangement, with lack of continuity/retention, integrity, confidentiality, data security, resistance to change, clash of time needs being some of them. More importantly, we picked up some useful tips on how to overcome these challenges.

We had the opportunity learn the relevance of flexibility in work arrangements, work-life integration, compressed workweeks, telecommuting and job sharing. Most of these items fit very well in our company culture, and we are very fortunate to learn how these may be integrated.

Above, our shady strategic relations manager poses with our ShowNearby standee, as the artistically misdirected communications manager takes a snapshot. At least he will grow and learn to have some sense of lighting.

After the short informal seminar, the mums came in and we had a good time learning about their diverse persons and skill sets. We have already shortlisted some of them for interviews.

Thanks for organising an awesome event and mingling session, and for inviting us too! See you folks at the next one!
